We arrived at Les Cascades after a tough full day of traveling. Our day had started pretty well, but as the day progressed I became more and more sultry. It may have been that I needed a much greater rest then I was getting, since we had been on tour / traveling for one week now, and it was starting to take it's toll.
So lo in behold when I arrived at Les Cascades, I was quite astounded. The place is magical. Set on the mountain side of Cape Town's Bantry Be, our room overlooked the Atlantic Ocean, and had a particularly Beverly Hills feel too it. When we arrived it was night time, and the night was particularly chilled. However I stood outside talking to Wally our Concierge for the night. We had a pleasant conversation, and I must say I was impressed. He struck me as someone who was really intelligent, and genuine. He was very open and eager to help us. I really enjoyed talking & laughing with him, and was glad to have his welcome.
Morning brought wonders. When we awoke was I able to see the splendor of our location. From outside I could hear the ocean as it's waves crashed onto the shore far below. From within our room I was happy to see our large bed & room pleasantly lit up by the bright & cheerful air.
Cape Town is truly a beautiful city. It has a magical quality to it, where one feels that you really are at the tip of the world. You are keenly aware that this is a meeting point with the oceans below, clashing and combining sort of like the people themselves. We found the greatest diversity of people in our whole trip at Cape Town. There were African Tribes, English, Dutch, Germans, Indians, and the strange combination of colored peoples who were African Black, however much lighter colored. Almost like a polynesian kind of look. It was actually quite unique.
